Queen Camilla diligently supported her husband the King at this year’s Trooping the Colour event.
Dazzling the crowds, the senior royal was wearing a pale green silk crepe dress and coat by designer Anna Valentine. She accessorised with a striking cream-coloured hat with a large brim by designer Philip Treacy, alongside a historic brooch.
Fine jewellery experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have closely examined the brooch, identifying it as the Grenadier Guards military brooch, which was previously worn by another distinguished royal.
The Queen accessorised with the Grenadier brooch, that previously belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. Set with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds, the bejeweled piece features the cypher of the late monarch’s father, King George VI – the Sovereign in 1942.
A crown rests above the Royal Cypher, which is reflected within the blue Royal Garter inscribed with the motto of the Order of the Garter, “Honi soit qui mal y pense” – this translates to “Shame on he who thinks ill of it”.
The dazzling piece pays tribute to the senior royals royal as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, which she was appointed in late 2022, when she took over from Prince Andrew.
