The mystery behind Queen Camilla’s iconic twisted gold bracelet

Over the weekend, Queen Camilla attended QIPCO King George Day at Ascot – a highlight of the British horse racing calendar. She was joined by her long-time friends and official Queen’s Companions, Lady Sarah Keswick and Carlyn Chisholm, Baroness Chisholm of Owlpen, for the prestigious event, during which she presented the trophy for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Marking Her Majesty’s final official engagement before the summer break, the Queen looked elegant in an all-white ensemble, accessorising with a distinctive bracelet that has been a part of her jewellery collection since the early 1990s.

Fine jewellery experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have examined the piece – a bracelet once rarely absent from the senior royal’s wrist – offering insight into its design, value, and possible origins.

“Queen Camilla has been wearing this distinctive bracelet since the early 1990s. Crafted in 18k white and yellow gold, the design features alternating strands of twisted gold wires, creating a dynamic, swirling effect around the wrist.

Although its origin has never been publicly confirmed, many have speculated that the piece is by David Yurman, the American jeweller renowned for his signature twisted cable designs.

However, the bracelet bears a striking resemblance to a set of Van Cleef & Arpels bangle bracelets currently up for auction. Given Camilla’s well-documented admiration for the French maison, it’s far more likely that her bracelet is from Van Cleef. One of her most iconic pieces is their Vintage Alhambra bracelet, adorned with five four-leaf clover motifs in yellow gold – a lucky charm she is rarely seen without and is considered one of her favourites.

While Queen Camilla has never spoken publicly about the bracelet’s meaning, its enduring presence over decades suggests it may carry deep personal or sentimental value – perhaps a cherished gift or a symbol of significance.

Queen Camilla’s bracelet, notably free of any gemstones, is likely to be worth around £25,000, based on its intricate gold craftsmanship and probable designer origin.”
