The Queenly connection behind the ring Peter Phillips proposed with

Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, has officially announced his engagement to NHS nurse Harriet Sperling.

In a statement released on behalf of the couple, it was shared: “Both families were informed together of the announcement and are overjoyed by the wonderful news of their engagement.”

Accompanying the announcement was a heartfelt photo of the couple, with Harriet proudly displaying her engagement ring as they embraced.

While a close-up of the ring has yet to be revealed, diamond experts at UK jeweller Steven Stone have already offered insights into everything we know so far – from its estimated value to how it stacks up against other iconic royal engagement rings.

“Peter Phillips proposed with a classic trilogy-style diamond ring, expertly crafted by the prestigious Mayfair jeweller Pragnell – renowned for its historic ties to the British royal family, including the creation of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s own engagement ring, which also featured more than one stone.

At its centre sits what appears to be a dazzling 2-carat oval-cut diamond, flanked by trapeze-cut or triangular side stones – a timeless and elegant design that perfectly suits a royal bride-to-be. Traditionally, the three stones in a trilogy ring represent a couple’s past, present, and future, adding a layer of sentiment to its sparkle.

While royal engagement rings have featured a range of precious metals over the decades, Harriet’s is likely set on a sleek platinum band – a popular choice for its durability, brilliance, and classic appeal.

Based on its size and craftsmanship, I’d estimated Harriet’s ring be worth around $30,000, placing it at the more understated end of the royal engagement ring spectrum, alongside the recently revealed sparkler worn by Lady Eliza Spencer.”
