After six years of dating, Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks have officially confirmed their engagement, marking a major milestone in their long-term, low-key relationship.
Of course, this isn’t Liam’s first time down the aisle of commitment – back in 2012, he famously proposed to pop superstar Miley Cyrus. Their high-profile romance was filled with ups and downs, eventually leading to a brief marriage and a very public breakup.
Now, years later, Liam’s new engagement has naturally drawn comparisons to his past – especially when it comes to the ring.
After spotting several striking similarities between Gabriella’s and Miley’s sparklers, diamond experts at UK jeweller Steven Stone have taken a closer look at both to determine which fiancée received the more impressive engagement ring from the actor.
“When Liam proposed to Miley Cyrus in 2012, he did so with a stunning 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond set in a vintage-inspired solitaire setting. The antique stone was mounted on an 18k yellow gold band adorned with intricate, old-world detailing – designed by celebrity jeweller Neil Lane.
Fast forward to 2025, and Gabriella Brooks’ engagement ring from Liam shares some striking similarities. It also features a cushion-cut diamond in a classic solitaire setting, once again paired with a yellow gold band. However, Gabriella’s ring boasts a significantly larger 6-carat stone.
Despite the size difference, Miley’s ring carried a higher price tag. At the time of their engagement, Liam reportedly spent around $250,000 on the piece – equivalent to roughly $385,000 today when adjusted for inflation. In comparison, Gabriella’s ring is estimated to be worth around $200,000.
The difference comes down to factors like craftsmanship, diamond quality, and the rarity of antique stones. While Gabriella’s ring offers more in terms of carat weight, Miley’s featured a one-of-a-kind antique diamond and bespoke vintage design – elements that significantly increase both value and exclusivity.”
