Camilla wears £100k brooch to first public engagement with King Charles III since royal mourning ended

Today, King Charles III and Camilla, Queen consort, visited Dunfermline to mark the former town’s new status as Scotland’s eighth city.

The royals were met by huge crowds of well-wishers in what was their their first public engagement together since Queen Elizabeth III died last month.

We couldn’t help but notice that Camilla was wearing an interesting piece of jewellery. Engagement ring and fine jewellery experts at Steven Stone have taken a close look and revealed everything you need to know about the eye-catching piece.

Whilst His Majesty wore a kilt, Camilla paid a special tribute to the country with a long green coat that features a tartan collar. Camilla has previously been pictured wearing the coat on a visit to the Battersea Dogs Home in Windsor in 2020 and during a visit to Loughborough in 2018.

Pinned to the lapel of Camilla’s coat was a statement brooch that features a huge 35 carat cobochon sapphire centre stone, surrounded by four 10 carat cobochon sapphires set in a square arrangement.

According to our experts, a cabochon cut on a sapphire shows the very distinctive raw beauty of the particular crystal. The look is incredibly unique and not like any other type of appearance in a gemstone.

King Charles’s love of Scotland never wavered and he shares his late mother’s love and affection for the country. Queen Elizabeth II was renowned for paying homage to the four nations of the UK through her brooches and Camilla has been known to do the same. Camilla’s brooch looks like a historical piece, suggesting that it’s likely to be linked to Scotland.

I’d estimate the brooch to be worth approximately £100,000″.
