Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr are officially couple goals.
Having initially met on the set of ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ in 1997, they began dating in the early 2000s and went on to get married in 2002.
Since then, they’ve had two children – Charlotte and Rocky – and though they steer clear from working together, they both keep relatively busy with their individual projects.
To celebrate the couple’s 21st wedding anniversary on 1st September 2023, engagement ring experts at Steven Stone have taken another look at the unusual sparkler that Freddie proposed with.
When Freddie popped the question, he did so with an ethereal creation by Hollywood designer Cathy Waterman.
The ring features a princess cut diamond mounted in place by four ornate prongs that are set with uniquely shaped diamonds. Known to manifest beauty, style and edge, princess cut diamonds provided their wearer with a modern fresh look, while maintaining much of a brilliant diamond’s shine.
The band is channel-set all the way around with small round brilliant diamonds, further accentuating the sparkle.
Though they can’t be seen in any available images of Sarah’s ring, it’s rumoured that the stones are in fact held in place by a pair of dragonflies. This would be a particularly sentimental addition to the ring as the actress has two purple dragonflies tattooed on her back. She’s also previously stated that the couple share a love of dragons and dragonflies.
Our experts estimate Sarah’s engagement ring to be worth $100,000 – which converts to approximately £79,000.
