For the opening ceremony of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, the Hollywood actress and political activist treated the red carpet like her own personal runway. Stealing the show in a black bedazzled jumpsuit from Elie Saab, she accessorised with an array of dazzling diamonds that captivated everyone’s attention.

This years Cannes Film Festival is in full swing and we’re STILL talking about the opening ceremony. For Jane Fonda, it wasn’t her first rodeo and it her black bedazzled suit wasn’t the only thing that caught everyone’s eye – she was also wearing a shining suite of diamond jewels from Pomellato.
The Hollywood actress and political activist has worn Pomellato pieces on multiple occasions and her relationship with with Italian brand doesn’t end there – she’s a long time advocate and support of the Pomellato for Women campaign.
Since 2015, Sabina Belli – CEO of Pomellato – has driven the Pomellato for Women campaign and is passionate about making the world a safer and more equal place for women. In March of this year, Jane was the leading voice in a new video from the campaign that encourages everyone to be ‘social sentinels’ in safeguarding women from violence and abuse.
“For the opening ceremony of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Jane Fonda wore a suite of diamond jewels from Pomellato. As a long-time advocate and supporter of the Pomellato for Women initiative, this isn’t the first time the Hollywood actress has showcased the Italian brand.
Shimmering in a new High Jewellery parure, Jane was wearing the Asimmetrico necklace, which is encrusted with 2,924 diamonds weighing a substantial 20 carats. Reportedly inspired by the fluid contours of César Pelli’s iconic Milanese architecture, the diamonds are set on sinuous lines of articulated rose gold plates.
Naturally, one can never have too many diamonds, and she complimented the sculptural piece with a matching cuff bracelet adorned with 1,139 diamonds and a pair of diamond earrings.
Pomellato is among Milan’s most prestigious fine jewellers and Jane Fonda reigns as the Queen of the red carpet, so these pieces won’t have come cheap. I’d estimate the necklace to be worth $125k, the bracelet to be worth $85k and the earrings to be worth $70k – meaning that Jane was adorned in $280k worth of jewels.”
