Kim Kardashian’s ankle is richer than most people’s jewellery boxes

While most pack sunscreen for the beach, Kim Kardashian brings the bling – because why not shine brighter than the sun?

In her latest Instagram post, the reality TV star shared a photo dump capturing highlights from her family vacation – including sun-soaked beach shots and glimpses of the crew embarking on activities like paddleboarding and what appears to be zip-lining.

As picturesque as the beach shots are, the one that truly caught our eye was a close-up of her feet in the sand – thanks to the striking sparkle adorning her right ankle.

Diamond experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have taken a closer look at the four anklets Kim adorned herself with, revealing everything from her newfound love of sapphires to the risks of wearing such high-value jewellery by the sea.

“Kim wore four anklets, with the standout being a dazzling yellow and white diamond tennis bracelet. Each princess cut diamond appears individually held by prongs, spaced slightly apart. Given the size of the stone, I’d estimate the bracelets value at around $30,000.

Two of the anklets seem to be classic tennis bracelets – one a slim, full diamond piece valued at around $7,000, and the other featuring pink baguette cut sapphires set closely together, which I’d estimate to be worth $9,000.

The most captivating piece of the collection is the pink sapphire and diamond anklet. Featuring several pink sapphires, each estimated to be around 3 carats, I’d value it at approximately $10,000. To put the size of the stones into perspective, the average engagement ring in the UK typically features a 1-carat diamond. The pink sapphires are set in a halo design, interspersed with round-cut white diamonds that enhance the light entry, creating an exquisite sparkle. While the sapphires are pink rather than blue, the bracelet evokes the essence of Kate Middleton’s iconic engagement ring, which originally belonged to Princess Diana.

Kim Kardashian is known for incorporating vibrant coloured gemstones into her jewellery collection. While she often gravitates towards diamonds and amethysts, she’s recently developed a noticeable fondness for pink sapphires. For example, she showcased a pair of earrings featuring stunning fuchsia pink sapphires at the Maison Margiela 2024 Couture Show in Paris. Though Kim has not explicitly stated her preference for pink sapphires, her recent choices strongly suggest an emerging affinity for this striking gemstone.

In total, Kim was sporting approximately $56,000 worth of jewellery around her ankle at the beach – likely to be the most diamonds a celebrity has worn anywhere on their body, aside from their neck, wrists, or fingers, since Rihanna stunned the world with a dazzling 9-carat diamond on her toe.

Is it safe to wear jewellery to the beach?

Jewellery is often an investment and, for many people, their precious gems are of great sentimental value. Therefore, it’s important to take care of your jewellery to make sure they look their best for years to come.

Ideally, it’s best to avoid wearing jewellery on the beach or in environments with prolonged exposure to high temperatures. The friction between your skin and the pieces can cause irritation, while sweat and heat can dull the shine of precious metals and gemstones.
