Yesterday, Kim Kardashian returned to Paris to give testimony about the traumatic armed robbery she endured nearly nine years ago.
In October 2016, the reality star was held at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room by masked men disguised as police officers. The assailants made off with an estimated $10 million worth of jewellery and cash – including one of her engagement rings from then-husband Kanye West.
Despite the ordeal, Kim has not let the experience dim her love for fine jewellery. In a bold display, she arrived at the Palais de Justice adorned in more than $7 million worth of diamonds.
But here’s a lesser-known detail: not all of her jewels were lost. In a surprising twist, a diamond necklace from that night was discovered on the street by a passerby after the heist.
Fine jewellery experts at UK retailer Steven Stone are shedding light on the story behind the surviving piece – and what makes it so remarkable.
“The only piece to survive the heist was a platinum diamond crucifix by the acclaimed jeweller Jacob & Co, which was found on a Paris street the day after the robbery. The pendant is composed of six diamonds, though it’s difficult to determine the precise cut from the available photos. This particular necklace holds immense personal value for Kim, as it was the first piece of jewellery she had ever bought with her own earnings, marking a defining moment in the early days of her career.
Although the pendant is no longer available for purchase, it was originally priced at $33,180. For Kim, the return of this piece symbolised not just resilience, but a deep, emotional connection to her past. She’s previously revealed that getting it back felt like reclaiming a part of her glamour, underscoring that its importance far surpassed its monetary value.”
