Set to wed in Venice this weekend surrounded by an A-list guest list, Lauren Sanchez has already turned heads with a stunning series of high-fashion looks since landing in Italy. But it was her dazzling diamond rings at the wedding welcome party that truly stole the show.
The bride-to-be wore not one, but two remarkable rings – her show-stopping engagement ring from Jeff Bezos, and a second statement piece: an elongated oval-cut diamond ring that’s sparked plenty of speculation.
Diamond experts at UK jeweller Steven Stone have taken a closer look at the dazzling new sparkler on Lauren’s finger, revealing everything we know so far – and how it stacks up against her incredible engagement ring from one of the world’s wealthiest men.
: “Lauren Sánchez stole the spotlight at her wedding welcome party, dazzling in not one but two spectacular rings – most notably, her show-stopping engagement ring from Jeff Bezos. The piece features what appears to be a magnificent 20-carat cushion-cut diamond set in a sleek platinum band. Once considered old-fashioned during the mid-20th century, cushion-cut diamonds have made a striking resurgence in recent years, becoming a favourite choice for engagement rings. High-profile figures such as Kim Kardashian, Mariah Carey, and Meghan Markle have all worn the timeless cut, placing Lauren in truly illustrious company.
At the time of the couple’s engagement, the diamond was initially believed to be a D colour – the most rare and valuable grade on the colour scale. However, Lauren later revealed in an interview with Vogue that the stone is, in fact, a pink diamond. Among the rarest and most coveted coloured diamonds in the world, natural pink diamonds are exceptionally scarce. Historically, over 90% of the global supply came from Australia’s now-closed Argyle Mine, which ceased operations in 2020. Since its closure, the value of these already prized gems has skyrocketed, making Lauren’s ring not only breathtaking but also extraordinarily rare.
Lauren’s second ring is no less extraordinary. It features an elongated oval-cut diamond, believed to be a creation by the legendary jeweller JAR. Given that Jeff Bezos is the world’s third-richest man, it comes as little surprise that the 22.76-carat diamond is of the highest calibre. Graded D colour – the most rare and valuable on the diamond colour scale – it appears completely colourless both to the naked eye and under magnification. The stone also boasts a VVS1 clarity grade, placing it among the most pristine quality diamonds available.
Notably slim and shallow in proportion, the diamond has an elegant, elongated presence that enhances its brilliance. Based on its characteristics and rarity, I’d estimate the show-stopping piece to be worth around $4 million – making it even more valuable than her already spectacular engagement ring, which we previously estimated at $3.5 million.”
