The 1975 frontman Matt Healy has popped the question to his girlfriend, Gabbriette Bechtel.
Taking to her Instagram on Tuesday night, she flaunted a huge diamond ring on THAT finger. In another image, the model flashed her ring finger in a mirror selfie after watching Charli XCX’s Brat tour in New York City, alongside the caption; “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT”.
Leading diamond experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have taken a close look at Gabbriette’s engagement ring, revealing everything there is to know…
“The 1975 frontman Matt Healy has asked the all-important question to his girlfriend, Gabbriette Bechtel, and he did so with an engagement ring that’s both unique and rare.
Gabbriette’s stunning ring features a black cushion-cut diamond, estimated to be around 5 carats. Set in a halo setting, the ring’s sparkle is further enhanced by its pavé band.
Black diamonds symbolise power, elegance, mystery, and strength. Their popularity in engagement rings appears to have risen since Big gave Carrie a 5-carat black diamond engagement ring in the 2010 movie, ‘Sex and the City 2’. Celebrities including Carmen Electra and Kat Von D have also showcased black diamond engagement rings.
Despite their rarity, black diamonds are not excessively valuable. I’d estimate the value of this ring to be around $15,000 (£11,700).”
