The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are one of the music industry highlights of the year. Celebrating the best music videos and artists of 2023, this year’s event took place on 12th September at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Known for living her best life at awards shows, Taylor Swift was the biggest winner of the evening, leaving with nine awards – including artist of the year, best pop, song of the year and video of the year.
Though the pop superstar did experience one significant loss – she was caught on camera searching for the missing centre stone of one of her dazzling rings. While she was seen arriving on the pink carpet with the stunning ring in full display, it was missing by the time she received the award for Video of the Year.
Fine jewellery and diamond experts at Steven Stone have taken a close look at the ring and revealed the likelihood that Taylor will be able to get the piece fixed – as well as how much it would cost.
“Renowned for incorporating diamonds into her fashion and music, Taylor Swift dazzled with an onyx and diamond ring at the MTV VMA’s. Created by Van Cleef and Arpels, the ring is worth $12,000.
Unfortunately for Taylor, there appeared to be a mishap with the ring during the course of the evening, when its centre stone went missing. Damaging a vintage ring like Taylor’s is devastating, however diamonds are tough, so it’s highly possible that she’ll be able to get it fixed.
The centre stone appears to consist of a cluster or round diamonds and if they’re still in tact, it’ll cost around $500 for them to be reset in the ring. The worst case scenario is that they’re damaged and need replacing and resetting, which would cost around $1,000. Either way, it’s a relatively easy and inexpensive fix that would take just a couple of hours.
