It’s officially wedding season, and we can’t enough of hearing about our customer’s special days.
Today, we’re placing the spotlight on Cait and Alex, who tied the knot last year in at the stunning surroundings of Euridge Manor in Wiltshire.
Having visited Steven Stone for her beautiful wedding ring, Cait recently took the time to chat to us about Alex’s romantic engagement, the couple’s big day and most importantly, their pawsome ring bearer…
How did Alex propose? We hear that he chose a particularly romantic location…
Alex proposed at the top of Monte Baldo overlooking Lake Garda in Italy in March 2019. He’d whisked me away for a long weekend trip to celebrate my birthday which fell on the Sunday, and I had no idea he was planning to also propose on the trip.
On the Saturday morning he had me awake bright and early, insisting we had an early breakfast and got on the road as quickly as possible. I had no idea where we were going as we parked up at the bottom of a cable car station, but off we went up the side of the mountain! At the top there was still snow (people were skiing!), and Alex guided me up a rocky outcrop away from the ski slopes to look at the beautiful view overlooking Lake Garda. As it was still early morning it felt like we were the only two people on the whole mountain, it was so still and quiet. I was soaking it all in taking photos and admiring the view when next thing I knew I turned around and Alex was proposing! It was so special as we had that totally private moment to ourselves.
Truly a memory I will cherish forever.
Can you tell us about your beautiful wedding band?
My wedding band is a bespoke 3/4 compass set diamond and platinum eternity band which perfectly interlocks with the starburst design of my engagement ring.
Did you have a design in mind, or did you have a helping hand?
I definitely had a helping hand! As my engagement ring was such an unusual shape, I knew I would need something bespoke to fit around it. But as I’m not a jeweller, I had no idea the options available to me. It was great being able to try on so many sample wedding bands and then create my perfect design.
Your wedding looked like a slice of Venetian heaven. We’d love to hear about it!
Alex & I were married in July 2022 at Euridge Manor in Wiltshire. We fell in love with Euridge as soon as we visited so we were quick to secure our date! It captured everything we wanted for our wedding: a bright and bold venue full of colour and character, with a dreamy and romantic setting. It was hard to believe it was in the UK!
We held our ceremony under the boat house overlooking the beautiful water feature. Our little pug Taco was our ring bearer and came down the aisle in a remote controlled car, much to the hilarity of all our guests! We then held our reception in the ballroom, where our wedding breakfast was an around-the-world feast of different cuisines celebrating our love of food and travel.
We also had a surprise cake decorating competition for our dessert which got all our guests working together in their tables to create a Great British Bake Off style “Showstopper”. We still hear from family and friends how much they loved that!
Have you been away on your honeymoon?
Not yet, but we have booked some of it! We’re hoping to go to Thailand later this year – a trip which I’m taking in honour of my late Mum, who travelled there in the 1970s. I’d love to retrace her footsteps through the temples of Chiang-Mai and the busy market streets of Bangkok.
We’ve also booked to go to Japan in March 2024, which will hopefully mean we’re there for the Sakura Cherry Blossom Festival. We’ve got two weeks to travel through Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and we are incredibly excited. Neither of us have been to Asia before, so we can’t wait to experience the culture, food and sights!
What made you choose Steven Stone?
I’d taken a quick tour through Hatton Garden and become totally overwhelmed! The experience in Steven Stone was infinitely more relaxed, friendly and there was no pressure on me to commit to a design right away.
I’d shopped at Steven Stone before with a good friend who was designing a bespoke engagement ring for his fiancée, so I’d seen the quality and service from the Steven Stone team and knew I was in good hands!
