Your wedding day is deemed one of the greatest days of your life – and there’s nothing we love more than chatting to our customers about theirs.
Today we’re placing the spotlight on Louise and Will. We created Louise’s gorgeous engagement ring and were thrilled when the happy couple returned to Steven Stone for their wedding rings.
With a proposal straight out of a storybook – quite literally, Will proposed on Pooh Sticks Bridge – their wedding was always going to be magical and we couuldn’t wait to catch up with Louise about that, the couple’s rings and their thrilling honeymoon.
Can you tell us a bit about your beautiful engagement ring?
Will had a rough idea of what I wanted after I’d visited Steven Stone six months earlier to purchase a special ring for my big birthday. Having eyed up all the gorgeous display pieces, I enthusiastically told him which had specifically caught her eye. Will visited your Hale showroom in March 2020 and cleverly requested Danny for his consultation, as Danny had helped me select my beautiful Platinum Marquise Motif and Bezel Set Round Diamond Full Eternity Ring. Will chose a platinum halo setting with a marquee cut diamond. Will was set on quality and through the 3 C’s, Danny showed him a few options to choose from on the computer and helped him pick the perfect diamond.
How did Will propose?
Will proposed on a very hot day – 11th August 2020 – after having to rebook the holiday due to the restrictions, on Pooh Sticks Bridge, in Ashdown Forrest, Sussex. With me being a huge Disney fan and childhood memories for Will at this location, he was able to plan plan the most magical and meaningful proposal to us both. As he got down on one knee, we were the only ones there, with the sun beaming down and the birds singing from the tree’s – it truly was a moment we will both cherish forever.
And what about the wedding? We want all of the Disney details!
Although I am a massive Disney fan, we wanted a romantic themed wedding with Disney hints. We got married at Rowton Castle (I did float the idea of getting married at Cinderella’s castle in Orlando but thought I was pushing my luck!) I settled for the beautiful Rowton which is set in the stunning Shropshire countryside. I walked down the aisle to ‘Once Upon a Dream’ by Evynne Hollands, our vows had signification Disney quotes in such as ‘you are braver than you think, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think’ and ‘love is just a word, until someone comes along and gives it meaning.’ My bouquet had a Groom Mickey and Bride Minnie charm attached, and the pegs used on our seating plan were decorated with Disney pins.
At lot of thought went into our sweetie station with sweets selected to represent many films such as flying saucers to represent Toy Story and our wedding favours were mini jars of honey, of which the jars were from Pooh Corner in Sussex and the honey was provided by a family friend who is a bee keeper. Our guest book was our own personalised ‘Adventure Book’ from Up and our first dance was to La Vie En Rose, which features in WallE. For a good laugh and to really capture my character, I had some photos taken with my Bridal Minnie Mouse ears on! The photos with the red balloon were inspired by an iconic illustration of Winnie the Pooh.
My place setting had a crystal hidden Mickey on it. One of my favourite things though was our wedding cake – this was a surprise that I planned for Will, who is a massive Lego fan. It featured signification mini figures, which of course included Mickey and Minnie!
Did you always have designs in mind for your wedding rings, or did you have a helping hand?
I made David’s job very easy as I knew exactly which wedding band I wanted and it compliments my engagement ring perfectly!
My Platinum Round Brilliant Cutdown Set Half Eternity Ring sits beautifully tucked under my engagement ring and adds a little more sparkle to my ring finger (I’m just working on getting a full set eternity ring to go with them now!)
Will knew that he wanted a plain gold wedding band, but took guidance from David’s expertise on the width and style. His 18ct Yellow Gold 6.00mm Slight Court Medium Weight Wedding Ring is a classic and timeless piece.
Have you been away on your honeymoon?
We recently visited South Africa for our honeymoon, whilst also celebrating our first wedding anniversary – a destination we’d both longed to go and enjoy a Safari together. We started our honeymoon in Cape Town before travelling to Stellenbosch to sample to many of the 180 wineries the region had to offer.
We then visited Plattenberg Bay before finishing our journey at Pumba Game Lodge, where we managed to see 4 of the Big 5 amongst many other animals.
It was a trip of a lifetime and one we both wish had never come to an end.
Finally, what made you choose Steven Stone?
Steven Stone came highly recommended by family and friends and with quality in mind, we were both exceptionally pleased with the service and rings we purchased.
