Today we’re placing the spotlight on Yvonne and Steve. We created Yvonne’s engagement ring and were thrilled when the happy couple returned to Steven Stone for their wedding rings.
Yvonne recently took the time to chat to us about her engagement and wedding rings, Steve’s picturesque proposal, their big day and the dream honeymoon that has the couple counting down the days.
Can you tell us a bit about your beautiful engagement ring from Steve?
The ring is the most perfect solitaire oval diamond, set on an 18ct gold band – Steve designed it with the help of Daniel from Steven Stone, Hale. The whole process of sourcing the diamond sounded so exciting! It receives so many compliments and is just perfect.
How did Steve propose? We hear that there was a particularly picturesque backdrop
Steve booked a trip to Iceland for my Christmas present and planned the whole trip. One evening during the trip, he received a phone call to say the northern lights could come out. We were picked up in a jeep and taken on a ‘private tour’ just outside Reykjavik. The ‘tour guide’ (aka photographer) found us a private location by a waterfall. He told us if it reached midnight and we didn’t see the lights, the chances after that were slim. At 3 minutes to midnight, the sky lit up in green and Steve got down on one knee. It was as though somebody was watching over us and made it happen. There was champagne in the car and lots of happy tears and phone calls to our family and friends. That was March 2020 and COVID lockdown came later that month! It feels like a dream now.
And what about the wedding? We’d love to hear all of the details!
We got married in a church in my hometown (Leitrim, Ireland) and celebrated afterwards in Lough Rynn Castle with our friends and family, who travelled from far and near. It was the perfect day and one that we will always treasure. Everyone’s love and kindness was felt in abundance.
On the morning of the wedding, it was such a calming and happy feeling waking up in my family home where I have such happy memories. A highlight was when Steve read out a poem he had written for me which was all about how we met and our story so far.
Did you always have designs in mind for your wedding rings, or did you have a helping hand?
Steve had such a pleasant experience in designing the engagement ring with the team at Steven Stone in Hale, that we returned there for our wedding bands. We had an idea that we wanted gold bands, but Hannah was so helpful and knowledgeable, which we really appreciated because it can be difficult deciding. We couldn’t be happier with them.
Have you been away on a honeymoon?
We had a very busy year in 2022 between studying for our Masters and other family weddings, so we mini-mooned in Mykonos, which was perfect. We have just booked our dream honeymoon in the Maldives!
