Princess of Wales wows in £1.6 million earrings

Last night, the Princess and the Princess of Wales made a striking return to the Royal Variety Performance, their first appearance at the annual event since 2023 – when they enjoyed a rare double date night with Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

The Princess turned heads in a velvet bodycon Talbot Runhof gown with an elegant off-the-shoulder neckline, paired with a dazzling set of diamond chandelier earrings she first wore at Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan’s wedding in June 2023.

UK jewellery experts at Steven Stone have now revealed everything there is to know about the earrings, including which royal they originally belonged to.

“Reportedly made in 1929, Kate’s diamond chandelier earrings were gifted to Queen Elizabeth II by her parents on her wedding day in November 1947.

Their Art deco design incorporates a lexicon of modern diamond cuts – including half moon, trapeze, princess, baguette, baton and emerald.

The late monarch regularly wore the jewels throughout her life – most recently during a visit to Toronto in July 2010 – so it’s touching that Kate has brought them back into the spotlight, having debuted them at Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan’s wedding in June 2023.

Our experts estimate the sparkling earrings to be worth £1.6 million.”
