Queen Camilla’s $30k brooch that pays tribute to Wales – and two other Royals

Queen Camilla chose a symbolic piece of jewellery for hers and King Charles’ important visit to Welsh Parliament in Cardiff.

The royal couple arrived at the Senedd on Thursday 11th July 2024, to mark its 25th anniversary.

In a nod to the Welsh people, Queen Camilla adorned her baby pink coat dress with a diamond brooch shaped like a leek.

Leading diamond experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have closely examined the brooch, noting it as a poignant choice in more ways than one by Her Royal Highness.

Queen Camilla’s brooch is a replica of Queen Elizabeth II’s Welsh Guards Leek Brooch, which was gifted to the late monarch by the Welsh Guards in 1960.

Identical to the cap badge of the Welsh Guards, the brooch was worn by the late monarch several times during her 70 year reign – primarily for events related to the Welsh Guards.

It’s not the first time that Queen Camilla has worn the brooch – she wore it in September 2022, when she accompanied King Charles on his first trip to Wales since he acceded the throne.

Queen Camilla also isn’t the only royal to have sported a replica of the original brooch – Kate Middleton wore one on St David’s Day in 2023, when she attended the St David’s Day Parade at Combermere Barracks in Windsor, with Prince William.

Unlike Kate Middleton’s diamond brooch, Queen Elizabeth II’s and Queen Camilla’s includes a strip of yellow gold.

Our experts estimate it Queen Camilla’s to be worth $30,000 – placing it at the same value as Kate’s.

“Queen Camilla made a glittering tribute to Wales yesterday by wearing a leek brooch, as her and King Charles arrived at Welsh Parliament in Cardiff.

Her Royal Highness isn’t the only royal to have sported a replica of the original brooch and Kate Middleton actually wore one on St David’s Day last year. Unlike Kate’s diamond brooch, Queen Camilla’s includes a strip of yellow gold.

I’d estimate Queen Camilla’s brooch to be worth $30,000 – which places it at the same value as Kate’s.”
