Queen Camilla recently honoured the nation’s fallen with a heartfelt tribute, laying a wreath at St Bartholomew’s Church’s First World War memorial in Corsham, near her Wiltshire residence.
During her visit, Her Majesty viewed a stunning display of hand-knitted and crocheted flowers created to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The installation forms part of the Poppy Project launched earlier this year by the Peacock Women’s Institute, with an ambitious goal of crafting 10,000 poppies for display throughout the town.
For the occasion, the Queen looked effortlessly elegant in a tailored beige coat, accented by a gleaming gold brooch pinned to her lapel – a striking piece that made its first public appearance earlier this year.
Jewellery and diamond specialists from UK retailer Steven Stone have examined the distinctive square brooch closely, uncovering fascinating details about its craftsmanship and significance.

“Queen Camilla first debuted this exquisite brooch in April, during the final day of her and the King’s royal visit to Italy. The royal couple were joined by President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura for a reception at Ravenna’s Town Hall, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the province’s liberation from Nazi occupation by the Allied forces.
For the occasion, Her Majesty exuded timeless elegance in a white and beige coat dress by Anna Valentine – the same design she wore in the couple’s official anniversary portraits – complimented perfectly by a dazzling brooch crafted by Italian designer Lucia Odeschalchi.
The brooch, crafted from yellow gold in a striking square design and set with sparkling diamonds, instantly drew the eye. Its intricate, mosaic-like pattern is composed of tiny rectangular and cylindrical beads in shades of grey, black, and metallic tones, creating a richly textured, reflective surface that shimmers with every movement.
As April marked the first time the Queen had been seen wearing the jewel and the royal couple’s wedding anniversary falls on 8th April, many speculated that it may have been a special anniversary gift. I’d estimate its value to be in the region of £20,000.”
