Queen Camilla’s latest brooch honours her father AND the late Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty Queen Camilla – renowned for her affinity for the royal collection’s exquisite brooches – selected a particularly remarkable one today.

The Queen attended the 97th annual Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey in London this morning. The Field of Remembrance has been held every November since 1928, organised by The Poppy Factory, for which Her Majesty has served as Patron since 2013.

Her Majesty opted for a refined blue military-inspired coatdress – a thoughtful nod to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the World Wars and later conflicts. However, it wasn’t just her distinguished outfit that caught attention. As always, considerable thought went into her choice of accessories.

Fine jewellery experts UK retailer Steven Stone have unveiled all there is to know about the brooch she was sporting, which was previously worn by Queen Elizabeth II.

“It’s heart-warming to see Queen Camilla wearing the Royal Lancers Brooch – not just because it was previously worn by Queen Elizabeth II, but because the Queen’s late father served with the 12th Lancers during World War II. Thus, it’s of even greater sentiment to her.

The brooch is in the shape of the badge of the Royal Lancers, which King Charles appointed Queen Camilla to be Colonel-in-Chief of in 2023. Displaying a skull and crossbones – referred to as The Motto – the badge is one of the most recognisable in the British Amy and represents its motto: ‘Death or Glory’.

While the skull itself appears to be studded with small diamonds, the red flags are presumed to be embellished with rubies, while sapphires are likely to comprise the scroll at the bottom. With all of this in mind, I’d estimate the brooch to be worth around £10,000.”
