Yesterday, Princess Anne visited the Intelligence Corps in Chicksands and she was wearing a particularly interesting set of brooches.
Princess Anne was appointed the Colonel in Chief of the British Army’s Intelligent Corps back in April of this year.
Dazzling in a long green coat, the Princess Royal accessorized with two brooches – one of which was pinned just underneath her collar.

The Princess Royal’s first brooch is a silver brooch in the shape of the Intelligence Corps’ symbol, which is a rose with a crown on top of it, which appeared to be a sweet nod to her new position.
According to the British Imperial War Museums website, the choice of the rose as the symbol for the Intelligence Corps derives from the practice in Roman times of placing a rose on a door behind which secret matters were being discussed, giving rise to the expression, “sub rosa”, under the rose.
The more eye catching of the two brooches that Princess Anne wore is the gold one that she was wearing underneath her collar. The stunning brooch is in the shape of a Scout reef knot and features two rubies and two pearls.
The rope of a Scout reef knot symbolises the family of the World Scout Movement, whilst the knot symbolises the strength of the unity of the World Scout Movement.
The brooch is the perfect fit for the Princess Royal, who is known for her strong character.
