With a shared love of dinosaurs and Florida, there was only place for Dean to get down on one knee – Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
Natalie recently took the time to chat to us about Dean’s roar-some proposal, her sophisticated engagement ring and the couple’s wedding plans…
Can you tell us a bit about your dazzling ring?
I can tell you that it is absolutely stunning! I’m not a ring person and I don’t normally wear rings, however my engagement ring is better than anything I could have ever imagined – I’m obsessed with it! It’s so dainty, elegant and sparkly. Dean picked the most beautiful ring and the whole composition definitely reflects me. It’s beyond perfect!
And what about Dean’s proposal? We want all of the roar-some details!
Dean’s proposal was magical! We both have a very strong interest in palaeontology (dinosaurs), Dean actually made it his job to study them, and we both love Florida. I’ve been going to the theme parks since I was a little girl and really wanted to take Dean back and make some memories, it’s 100% my happy place. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic we couldn’t get over there, so as soon as the US borders opened in November 2021, we booked a ticket.
I insisted we went on the Jurassic Park River Adventure and we both got drowned sat at the front! Little did I know that minutes later Dean would get down on one knee and ask me to be his wife! Dean proposed under the Jurassic Park gates with the Florida sunshine cascading over the Hogwarts Castle. The Jurassic Park theme tune was blaring in the background, and it was so much of a blur that I didn’t quite hear what he was saying but I definitely know I said yes… through my tears!
Did you always have a specific design in mind for the ring, or did you have a helping hand?
I knew I wanted an emerald cut diamond because I love how classy and unique they look. However, I had no idea what setting or style would suit me.
Back in September 2021, we booked an initial appointment at the Hale showroom with David and he was fantastic! After trying on a few different styles, Dean had a pretty good idea of which ring I loved. Fast forward to December, that’s the ring he had made for me.
How are the wedding plans going?
Fantastic, we’re getting married in the Cheshire countryside at Colshaw Hall on Friday 13th, of all days! It’s unlucky for some, but we actually got together on a Friday 13th, so it seemed fitting. The venue is so beautiful and the grounds look stunning in the autumn as all the trees turn orange/red. We’re so excited to have some friends coming all the way from the US to share the moment with us. The theme is elegant, forest green, eucalyptus, white roses – and there might even be some dinosaur themed surprises!
What made you choose Steven Stone?
As I don’t wear rings, I was nervous about whether I would find an engagement ring I liked. When I came across the Steven Stone website, I fell in love with how delicate and yet well-crafted the jewellery was. When we went to look at the rings in person, I knew I wanted one from there. We’ve just bought my wedding band and I’ve already picked out my eternity ring!
Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
David and Hannah at the Hale showroom have been amazing – they really have made a special process even more special for us!
