A solitaire ring features one diamond or gemstone set in the middle of the ring – offering a refined and elegant look that makes the centre stone stand out, the setting was made popular in 1886 by American jewellers.
Traditionally, a solitaire ring would feature a single stone set into a band. As time has gone on, it has become accepted that the definition of solitaire only applies to the setting itself, rather than the overall design.
With 37,000 people goggling the term ‘solitaire ring’ each month, it’s safe to say that they’re still a bestseller for engagement rings today – and they’re particularly popular with celebrities. In fact, 53% of celebrities received rings on a solitaire setting in 2023!

After analysing the photos that the actress shared on Instagram, our experts valued the sparkler at £163,000 ($200,000).
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens confirmed her engagement to Cole Tucker when she shared an Instagram post, in which her engagement ring could be seen sparkling alongside the lights of Paris, with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
Vanessa’s ring features what looks like a 4 carat oval cut diamond in a solitaire setting, set on a thin yellow gold band.
Our experts estimate Vanessa’s beautiful engagement ring to be worth £118,000 ($150,000).
Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney Kardashian’s huge sparkler from Travis Barker is perhaps the most favourite celebrity solitaire engagement ring of them all.
The ring features one huge dazzling centre stone – an oval shaped diamond which looks to be around 8 carats – in a solitaire setting.
It has a simple design, set on a thin pave band which only emphasises the size of the huge centre stone.

Hailey Bieber
When Justin Bieber popped the question to Hailey Baldwin, he prestented her with a custom-designed piece by Jack Solow of Solow & Co that features a 6-10 carat oval shaped diamond in a solitaire setting.
Sat on a yellow band, the central diamond in Hailey’s ring is colourless and brilliant, making it a stunningly desirable piece. With this in mind, our experts estimate it to be worth $500,000.
Ramona Agruma
Rebel Wilson proposed to Ramona Agruma at Disneyland – and the actress didn’t let us down with the sparkler that she chose for her future bride.
Rebel got down on one knee with the Tiffany Settling Engagement Ring – a true masterpiece, the design is the world’s most iconic engagement ring. It’s particularly heartwarming to see that Rebel chose a ring from Tiffany’s as a friend gifted the couple Tiffany heart charms on their first-ever date in Los Angeles in late 2021.
The ring features a 2.55 carat round brilliant cut diamond in a solitaire setting, sat on a platinum band.

It’s easy to see that Lauren’s sparkler is quite a substantial ring – featuring what looks like a 20ct cushion cut diamond on a platinum band.
As Jeff is the world’s third richest man, it’s highly that the diamond taking centre stage in Lauren’s ring is a D colour, which is the most expensive and rarest diamond colour grade. D colour diamonds appear colourless both to the naked eye and under magnification.
The diamond is also likely to be VVS quality. Despite having some inclusions, VVS quality diamonds are considered to have excellent clarity and are one step away from being internally flawless.
To say that Lauren’s ring is impressive would be a huge understatement. Our experts estimate it to be worth a staggering $3.5 million.

Elliot Grainge proposed to Sofia Richie – daughter of music legend, Lionel Richie – with a real showstopper of a ring.
The American social media personality and models engagement ring boasts an emerald cut diamond in a solitaire setting, sat on a yellow gold band.
According to our experts, Sofia’s ring looks to be around 5cts and is no doubt worth around £380,000 ($500,000).
Nicola Peltz
Nicola Peltz’s original engagement ring from Brooklyn Beckham posesses an elegant and classic design, with an emerald-cut diamond in a solitaire setting, sat on a thin band that’s likely to be platinum or white gold band.
The centre stone appears to be colourless, with an elegant emerald cut. This usually suggests that the diamond is extremely high quality, as emerald cuts are more likely to reveal imperfections.
Due to the size of the diamond and the quality of the stone, our experts estimate Nicola’s sparkler to be worth £350,000.
