All the celebrities who got engaged in 2024…so far

In the glitzy world of Hollywood, 2024 has already proven to be a year of romance and excitement as several high-profile celebrity engagements have captivated fans worldwide.

Last year, some huge stars – including Vanessa Hudgens, Rebel Wilson and Zoë Kravitz – received huge sparklers from their partners, but who will be joining them?

Steven Stone’s diamond experts will be keeping track of all the celebrities who get engaged this year, along with the juicy details of their engagement rings.

January

Ruby Bhogal and James Stewart

Value of ring: $12,000 (£9,500)

‘The Great British Bake Off’ star Ruby Bhogal announced on 21st January that she was engaged to BBC presenter James Stewart, who popped the question in New York.

Ruby debuted her unique engagement ring in an Instagram post, where she also revealed the details behind the proposal – which didn’t exactly go as planned due to a case of food poisoning.

“Ruby’s engagement ring is stirring up quite the buzz, showcasing a distinctive vintage flair with what appears to be a stunning aquamarine centerpiece.

Aquamarine emerges as a romantic choice for an engagement ring, not only as the official stone for 19th wedding anniversaries but also symbolising a blissful and enduring married life, fostering traits of faithfulness, courage and friendship.

I’d estimate a sparkler like Ruby’s to be worth $12,000.”

Ed Westwick & Amy Jackson

Value of ring: $300,000 (£240,000)

In late January, Ed Westwick announced that he was engaged to girlfriend Amy Jackson after nearly two years of dating.

The couple shared a joint post on Instagram, featuring multiple photos from the special moment that the actor popped the question in Gstaad, Switzerland.

Amy finally gave us a good look at her beautiful ring in March, when she shared a series photos to Instagram that were from a recent shoot that she’d done with Ed.

The couple had teamed up with Tissot and could be seen showcasing their new watches that the company had presumably gifted them, which were engraved with their special date; 27th January 2024. Though as much as we loved the watches, it was the rock on Amy’s finger that we couldn’t take our eyes off.

“Ed popped the question with an engagement ring that boasts a 5ct oval cut diamond in a solitaire setting, sat on a yellow gold band. Amy is in good company with her sparkler as oval was the most popular cut for celebrity engagement rings in 2023, with 34% opting for the classically elegant shape.

Representing uniqueness and individuality, the shape of the ring is a flawless match for Amy, who has achieved success in both the modelling and acting industries. Due to their similarity to the shape of an egg, many associate oval cuts with fertility, rebirth and family – adding to the rings sentimentality, this is incredibly poignant for Amy who is starting a family with Ed and her son from her first marriage.

I’d estimate Amy’s engagement ring to be worth $300,000 (£240,000).”

March

Dakota Johnson & Chris Martin

Value of ring: $500,000 (£400,000)

In early March, the Daily Mirror reported that Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin had gotten engaged.

However, rumours have been swirling for years that the actress and Coldplay frontman were planning to walk down the aisle and we’d previously clocked her HUGE emerald engagement ring on several occasions – including at an annual event in New York last November, benefitting the charity Hope for Depression Research Foundation, which was honoring the actress for her depression advocacy.

“Featuring an 8-10 carat oval cut emerald, Dakota’s ring is certainly impressive. The huge stone appears to be sat in a halo setting, which further accentuates its beauty.

The actress is clearly a fan of the highly precious gemstone as she’s previously been seen sporting an elegant cushion cut emerald ring. The stone of the heart, emeralds symbolise mercy, compassion and universal love – making them the ideal choice for an engagement ring.

Dakota stunned us with the ring when she wore it to her 34th birthday celebrations last month, sparking speculation that she’s engaged to Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin. She’ll be in good company if it is in fact an engagement ring as celebrities sporting emerald engagement rings include Rita Ora, who received a 10 carat emerald cut Columbian green emerald from Taika Waititi.

Though it’s dependent on the quality of the stone, Dakota’s ring could easily be worth $500,000 (£400,000).”

April

Lucy Spraggan & Emilia Smith

Value of ring: $12,000 (£9,500)

The former ‘X Factor’ star – who has released six studio albums since the show – will marry her girlfriend Emilia Smith in June.

“A huge congratulations are in order for Lucy Spraggan and Emilia Smith, who have announced their engagement on Instagram.

Lucy popped the question with a stunning engagement ring that features what appears to be a 1 carat marquise cut diamond in a solitaire setting. Exuding a timeless elegance that captivates the eye, marquise cut diamonds boast an elongated shape and pointed ends. The solitaire setting shifts all the attention to Emilia’s sparkling diamond.

Often regarded as a symbol of friendship, marquise cut diamonds represent the lasting bond and connection between two individuals – making the stone the perfect choice for Emilia, who has been friends with Lucy for ten years.

An engagement ring like Emilia’s could be worth up to around $12,000 (£9,500).”
