From loss to luxe – Lily Collins’ new engagement ring is bigger, bolder, and pricier

If you cast your mind back to May 2023, you may recall the upsetting news that Lily Collins fell victim to a theft during her stay at a luxury hotel in Los Angeles.

At the time, the actress was reportedly enjoying a relaxing spa day in West Hollywood. She had stored her valuables securely before heading off to unwind – but upon her return, she was devastated to discover they had been stolen. Among the missing items was her stunning engagement ring, a deeply personal piece designed by her now-husband, Charlie McDowell.

Fast forward to earlier this year, Lily and Charlie celebrated the arrival of their daughter. And in a recent International Women’s Day post, fans were quick to spot a new sparkle on Lily’s hand – suggesting she’s now wearing a replacement engagement ring.

Curious about the dazzling new design, diamond experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have taken a closer look – revealing all the details, and how the new ring compares to her original showstopper.

Lily’s Original Ring

Charlie proposed to Lily with a pretty rose-cut diamond engagement ring. Weighing between 2 and 3 carats, the diamond is sat in a bezel setting, which is an unusual choice for an engagement ring. The diamonds lovely ‘light pink’ colour is exceptionally rare – representing femininity, love and romance, it’s also incredibly romantic.

A particularly special quality of Lily’s ring is that it was designed by Charlie, with the help of Irene Neuwirth Jewellery.

At the time of the couple’s engagement, our experts estimated the sparkler to be worth over £65,000 ($90,000).

“When Charlie proposed to Lily, he chose a rose-cut diamond engagement ring, a timeless symbol of love and devotion. The exquisite stone, shimmering in a delicate light pink hue, weighed between two and three carats. Beyond its rarity, the diamond carried deep symbolism – an emblem of femininity, romance, and enduring affection.

For her replacement ring, Lily has selected a breathtaking 5-carat emerald-cut diamond. True to her romantic aesthetic, she hasn’t forsaken her love of pink entirely – the dazzling stone appears to rest gracefully atop a rose gold band, infusing the piece with a soft, feminine glow.

Notably, both of Lily’s diamonds are secured in bezel settings – an atypical yet elegant choice for engagement rings. While traditional designs tend favour prong settings to maximize light exposure and brilliance, bezel settings offer a refined, contemporary aesthetic along with enhanced protection for the stones.

At the time of the couple’s engagement, I valued Lily’s original ring at over £65,000. I’d estimate her new ring to be worth around £200,000, marking a considerable upgrade – both in value and wow factor.”
