Pear shaped diamonds are a great choice for engagement rings as they are simple and classic. The diamond is also called a teardrop or pendeloque diamond – due to their shape, which combines the head of an oval shaped diamond and the tip of a marquise shaped diamond giving off stunning fire and brilliance.
The diamond has 58 facets, but can also be cut with different numbers of pavilion mains of 8, 7, 6 or 4 facets. Here at Steven Stone, we have a variety of pear shaped engagement rings in different styles available.
The most common engagement ring setting for a pear shaped diamond is a solitaire style that compliments and highlights the diamonds unique shape. The long shape of the diamond also creates a slimming effect on shorter fingers.

Bella Thorne
Before Bella Thorne met her current fiance, Mark Emms, she was engaged to Benjamin Mascolo.
Benjamin popped the question in March 2021, after the couple had been dating for nearly two years – and he certainly chose a dazzling ring!
The Italian singer proposed with a diamond set pear-shaped halo ring, that weighs in at approximately 4ct in total. The large, centre stone is around 2ct, with an estimated value of $50,000 to $100,000.
Jessica Simpson
Though Jessica’s Simpson and Nick Lachey are no longer together, we’ll never forget her engagement ring.
In 2002, Nick got down on one knee with a 4ct pear-cut diamond, flanked by what appear to be pear-shaped side stones.
Jessica is clearly a big fan of the shape as her 2010 engagement ring from NFL player Eric Johnson featured a centre ruby, flanked by two pear cut stones on either side.
Anna Kournikova
Anna Kournikova is an absolute star on the tennis court, but the only thing that could outshine her prowess with a racket is her incredibly gorgeous engagement ring.
When Enrique Iglesias popped the question, he presented Anna with an 11ct natural pink pear cut diamond. Sourced from the biggest mine in Argyle in Western Australia, the beautiful stone is set between two trillion diamonds.
A truly unique thing of beauty, Anna’s ring has an estimated value of $2.5 million (£2 million).
If you’re looking to do pear cut rings like they’ve never been done before, look to Ms. Kournikova for inspiration.
Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham has racked up a collection of 15 engagement rings since her husband, David, first proposed in 1998.
In 2005, the ex-footballer gifted Victoria her biggest diamond yet – a huge pear-cut diamond that clocks in at a breath-taking 17 carats.
The diamond leaves little room for embellishment, and it’s tastefully set on a platinum band featuring a simple micro-pave and boasts a vintage cut.
Taking a close look at the sparkler, our experts estimate it to be worth £3,800,000.
Cardi B
When Cardi B first shared her spectacular engagement ring from Migos rapper Offset on her Instagram story, it nearly broke the social media platform.
The ring is a double halo setting in what is either white gold or platinum. After analysing photos of the ring, our experts revealed that the centre stone is an 8-carat pear cut diamond, surrounded by 2 carats worth of pink and white rare diamond melee stones.
The ring is thought to have been custom made to Offset’s specific instructions by Pristine Jewellers NYC in the Diamond District of Manhattan. He picked up the huge rock just in the nick of time only hours before he proposed on stage later that night.
Reportedly, the ring costs a staggering $500,000.
Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl received a 3-carat pear cut diamond engagement ring from musician, Josh Kelley, when he proposed in 2006.
Inspired by old-time Hollywood glamour, the Art Deco influenced ring features a micro-pave halo and a diamond band – further accentuating its sparkle.
In an incredibly moving touch, Josh had part of the band from Katherine’s mother’s own ring added to the bespoke piece.
