The iconic brooches that Michael B Jordan wore at the Oscars

Honoring films released in 2022, the 95th Academy Awards were held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles last night.

As always, it wasn’t just the winners that had everybody talking, it was the glitz and glamour of those in attendance.

We were in our element when it came to dazzling jewellery, with two pieces in particular catching our eye – looking sharp in a custom Louis Vuitton ensemble for the ceremony, actor Michael B Jordan was displaying two vibrant brooches on his lapel.

Taking a close look, fine jewellery experts at Steven Stone have revealed everything you need to know about the pieces.

Michael accesorised with a pair of Tiffany & Co’s ‘Bird on a Rock’ brooches on his lapel.

Originally designed in the 1960’s, the ‘Bird on a Rock’ brooch is one of the 21st century’s most iconic jewellery designs and renowned for being the perfect setting to showcase Tiffany & Co’s rarest and most extraordinary gemstones, which in this case is a 40 carat morganite stone and a 50 carat green tourmaline stone.

Both stones feature a diamond bird perched on top that’s set with round brilliant cut diamonds, weighing approximately 2.75 carats

Taking into consideration the history of the design and the sheer size of the stones, our experts estimate each brooch to be worth around $100,000.

Interestingly, the 2023 Oscars weren’t the first time that Michael has worn jewels from the collection and he was seen wearing pieces from it to the UK premiere of his latest film and directorial debut – ‘Creed III’ – last month.

The blockbusters UK premiere saw the actor sport a tuxedo by Prada, accessorising with amethyst and aquamarine ‘Birds on a Rock’ brooches.

“Michael B Jordan brightened his outfit up by displaying a pair of Tiffany & Co’s ‘Bird on a Rock’ brooches on his lapel.

The ‘Bird on a Rock’ brooch has perhaps become best known as the perfect setting to showcase Tiffany & Co’s rarest and most extraordinary gemstones, with Michael’s showcasing a 40 carat pink morganite stone and a 50 carat green tourmaline.

Adding to the glitz and glamour, both stones feature a diamond bird perched on top that boasts an abundance of round brilliant cut diamonds.
