Queen Camilla has worn a £150k brooch that Queen Elizabeth II rarely wore due to its weight

It’s day 3 of Royal Ascot and the sun is shining brightly, adding to the excitement and splendour of the event.

Queen Camilla has stunned us with her impeccable outfits all week, and today is no different. As she arrived in a carriage with King Charles, we couldn’t help but notice the stunning emerald that adorned her all-white outfit.

Fine jewellery specialists at UK retailer Steven Stone have taken a close look at the rarely seen piece, which has been worn by two former royal ladies.

“Queen Camilla is wearing the Delhi Carved Emerald Brooch, originally gifted to Queen Mary to commemorate her royal visit to India in 1911.

Set in platinum and yellow gold, the brooch features a large hexagon-shaped emerald surrounded by round-cut diamonds. The emerald is uniquely carved with a rose on the front and an unidentified plant on the back, adding to its distinct charm.

As with many of Queen Mary’s pieces, it was passed down to Queen Elizabeth II and is now in Queen Camilla’s possession. Though it had been with the late monarch since her grandmother’s passing in 1953, she rarely wore it due to its heavy weight.

Historical and truly spectacular, I’d estimated the piece to be worth £150,000.”
