Queen Camilla illuminated Ladies Day with a royal heirloom

Yesterday, King Charles and Queen Camilla led the royal family on the third day of Royal Ascot.

The Queen looked radiant in a soft off-white tailored coat dress, elegantly paired with a wide-brim Philip Treacy hat. But as always, it was her accessories that stole the show – most notably, a dazzling diamond star brooch.

Jewellery experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have revealed everything you need to know about this remarkable royal heirloom.

“In 1981, Queen Elizabeth II inherited a late-Victorian diamond star brooch from Lady Jardine. The brooch’s maker remains unknown, as does the identity of Lady Jardine herself.

It’s clear that the late Queen was fond of the piece – she wore it regularly, including at high-profile events like holiday church services, Christmas broadcasts, and the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant. Shaped like a star, the brooch features over thirty round-cut diamonds, with nine arranged in a floral pattern at its centre.

I’d estimate the brooch to be worth around £120,000.”
