Last night, London’s Royal Albert Hall hosted the Royal Variety Performance – an annual event that traditionally attended by Queen Elizabeth II or King Charles III.
The 2022 Royal Variety Performance was the 95th to take place and the first to see the Earl and Countess of Wessex represent the royal family as the evening’s guests of honor – with Prince Edward looking flash in a tuxedo and Sophie Wessex stunning in a metallic floor length gown.
The royal couple were entertained by a cast of famous faces during the night – including music from Nile Rogers & Chic, George Ezra, Ellie Goulding and Becky Hill.
Diamond experts at Steven Stone couldn’t take their eyes off the sparkling earrings that Sophie Wessex was wearing. Having taken a closer look, they’ve revealed everything you need to know…
As always, Sophie Wessex looked incredibly elegant – accessorising with a pair of diamond and sapphire drop earrings, set in white gold. According to our experts, the earrings are worth a staggering £250,000, which doesn’t come as a surprise as the bold sapphires total 4 carats and the diamonds total over 10 carats.
The Countess previously wore the dazzling earrings in Gibraltar back in June of this year, during a royal visit to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee – giving them a touch of sentimentality that has been heightened since the late monarch’s sad passing in September.
Though it’s heartwarming to see that Sophie chose sapphire jewellery in to wear at the Royal Variety Performance in general, as it’s a stone that’s been long associated with royalty.
Alongside her diamond and sapphire drop earrings, the Countess also sported a platinum cushion cut blue sapphire and diamond ring. The central sapphire looks to be 2 carats and is surrounded by a halo of diamonds.
Our experts estimate the ring to be worth £10,000.
