Cher has had everybody talking since she took to Twitter on Christmas Day to share a photo of a diamond ring with her four million followers.
The iconic singer tweeted a photo of the ring in a black velvet box, alongside the caption: “THERE R NO WORDS, ALEXANDER,A.E.”
Rumours of her engagement to her partner, Alexander Edwards, have been circulating ever since – despite Cher explaining in a second tweet that she’d only shared the photo of the huge ring because Alexander’s painted nails “are so cool”.
Engagement ring and fine jewellery experts at Steven Stone have taken a close look at the sparkler – and whether it’s an engagement ring or not, it’s well worth gushing over.
The huge ring features a pear shaped diamond, which looks to be 4 carats – slightly less than the average celebrity engagement ring, which our recent research revealed to be 5.31 carats.
Pear shaped diamond are incredibly advantageous. Responsible for bringing a feminine and elongated quality to the wearers finger, the droplet shape of the pear also makes it an ideal choice for pendants and earrings.
7% of celebrities who got engaged in 2022 opted for the flattering shape – including Brenda Song, who received a 6 to 8 carat pear shaped engagement ring from Macaulay Culkin, when the ‘Home Alone’ star proposed in January. Our experts valued her ring to be worth a staggering $600,000.
Pear shaped diamonds are often associated with confident women who wish to stand out, which makes the cut perfect for Cher, who has never been afraid to push boundaries throughout her extraordinary six-decade-long career.
