Although Kieran Culkin won his first Oscar on Sunday night for his role in ‘A Real Pain’, his greatest achievement lies elsewhere.
From proudly wearing bracelets from his kids to lovingly mentioning his wife in his speeches, the ‘Succession’ actor is known for being a devoted family man – and the brooch he wore at the 97th annual academy awards was a perfect reflection of that.
Fine jewellery experts at UK retailer Steven Stone have closely examined the brooch, revealing all the details – from its estimated value to the deep sentiment behind the piece.

About Emerald
Derived from the Greek word smaragdus, meaning “green,” emerald is the vibrant green variety of the beryl gemstone family, which also includes aquamarine and morganite.
Revered for centuries, emerald symbolizes mercy, compassion, and universal love, earning its reputation as the “stone of the heart.” It is also associated with rebirth, believed to bring foresight, good fortune, and youth to its wearer.
About Peridot
Peridot, also known as chrysolite, is a magnesium-rich variety of the mineral olivine, with its vibrant green hue derived from iron.
Believed to possess powerful healing properties, peridot has long been associated with renewal and positive energy. It also holds a strong connection to feminism, as suffragettes incorporated the gemstone into their attire as a symbol of change and hope.
With its luminous green-yellow glow, peridot has been linked to prosperity, thought to attract wealth and abundance while protecting against nightmares and enchantments.
About Sapphire
Sapphire is a precious gemstone and a variety of the mineral corundum, composed of aluminum oxide with trace elements like iron, titanium, chromium, vanadium, or magnesium. Renowned for its rich color and exceptional hardness, sapphire is one of the most durable gemstones.
Traditionally, sapphires are believed to attract wealth and protect against envy and infidelity. The gemstone symbolises intellect, morality, good fortune, dedication, and loyalty – making it a popular choice for engagement rings, wedding bands, and bridal jewellery.
“A custom piece from Fred Leighton, Kieran’s brooch features three stunning stones – a pear cut emerald, princess cut peridot, and a cushion cut sapphire. The three stones are arranged in a vertical line, set on what appears to be a platinum pin. The emerald is beautifully encircled by a crown of round cut diamonds, adding a touch of elegance to the design.
While their colours happen to compliment each other beautifully, that’s purely coincidental. Kieran chose them for a far more meaningful reason – they represent the birthstones of his wife and children.
I’d estimate Kieran’s sentimental brooch to be worth around $50,000 – though, of course, to him, it’s priceless.”
