Kate Middleton’s new citrine necklace has a hidden meaning

Kate Middleton recently hosted a reception at Hampton Court Palace for England’s Wheelchair Rugby League team, to celebrate their November victory against France in the World Cup, and she looked as elegant as ever.

The Princess of Wales was wearing a custom-made burgundy suit from French designer Roland Mouret that she previously wore for her and Prince William’s royal tour in Boston towards the end of last year, alongside a selection of gold jewellery – including a gold and citrine necklace.

After taking a close look at the tasteful necklace, jewellery experts at Steven Stone have revealed everything you need to know about it.

The delicate gold piece has been identified as the Gold Citrine Baby Treasure Necklace by Daniella Draper.

Retailing at £825 on the designers website, the necklace is made using 100% recycled solid nine-carat yellow gold and set with a beautiful citrine.

Citrine is a quartz variation; thus, it comes in hues ranging from yellow to brown. Yellow has always been a colour associated with positivity and optimism, so it’s no wonder that cirtrine is seen as a symbol of these concepts.

The birthstone for November, it’s said to assist in manifesting your biggest dreams, bringing in more success and prosperity.

Though it isn’t her birthstone, Kate actually owns multiple pieces of citrine jewellery – including several pairs of citrine earrings from the brand Kiki McDonough.

In fact, both November birthstones get the royal seal of approval from the Princess of Wales as she’s often seen sporting a pair of glittering pavé drop earrings made of white topaz.

“In the early years of her marriage to Prince William, Kate Middleton tended to favour silver and platinum jewellery, but she’s recently gravitated towards gold.

The Princess of Wales looked as elegant as ever when she wore her custom made burgundy suit to host England’s Wheelchair Rugby League team, but it was her delicate gold necklace that caught our eye. Retailing at £825 on Daniella Draper’s website, the piece is made using 100% recycled solid nine carat yellow gold and set with a beautiful citrine.

Citrine is a quartz variation that comes in hues ranging from yellow to brown, making it a symbolic choice by the Princess as the colour yellow has long been associated with positivity and optimism. Adding to the symbolic nature of the piece, citrine is said to assist in manifesting your biggest dreams, bringing in more success and prosperity.

Citrine is also said to be the perfect ally for realigning your energies back into balance after a period of stress, so it’s possible that the necklace is a nod to the stress that the royal family have evidently been under due to the recent release of Prince Harry’s memoir.
