Princess Charlene’s engagement ring has made a rare appearance

Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene of Monaco got married in 2011 – though for reasons unknown, the princess rarely wears her engagement ring and is regularly photographed bare-fingered at official royal events.

As Princess Charlene stepped out to celebrate Monaco’s National Day, she was a picture of elegance in a custom lilac trouser suit from Louis Vuitton, which she paired with a fascinator and black heels. Though it was the sparkler on her finger that we couldn’t take our eyes off.

Engagement ring specialists at Steven Stone have revealed everything you need to know about the sparkler – including why the Princess may opt to not wear it.

Prince Albert proposed to Princess Charlene with a showstopping engagement ring that was created by Parisian jeweller, Repossi. The bespoke piece boasts a 3 carat pear cut diamond, flanked by smaller diamonds in triangle arrangements.

Pear cut diamonds possess an elongated shape with a soft rounded edge and a sharp point. Due to the stones distinctive cut, pear cut engagement rings are believed to represent empowerment, individuality, and independence.

Princess Charlene rarely wears her three stone ring. Though she’s never shared a reason behind this decision, her choice could stem from various factors – such as discomfort due to its substantial central stone or worries about potential damage. For instance, Kate Middleton usually takes off her engagement ring when engaging in physical activities or sports.

Our experts estimate Princess Charlene’s ring to be worth a staggering £54,000 – cementing its place in the top 25 most expensive royal engagement rings.

“Thought to be created by Parisian jeweller Repossi, Princess Charlene of Monaco’s show-stopping engagement ring features a massive three-carat, pear-cut diamond flanked by smaller diamonds in triangle arrangements.

Because of their distinct and unmistakable cut, pear-shaped engagement rings are believed to represent empowerment, individuality, and independence.

It may come as a surprise to hear that the Princess rarely wears her sparkler, but this could be for a range of reasons – from discomfort as a result of its sizeable centre stone, to concern about damaging it. Kate Middleton for example typically removes her engagement ring whenever she is taking part in physical activities and sports.

I’d estimate Princess Charlene’s ring to be worth £54,000.”
