Queen Camilla’s latest brooch is a symbol of British strength

Always one for highlighting important causes, yesterday saw Queen Camilla pay a visit to Refuge’s Gala Centre in South London.

The Gaia Centre opened its doors in 2012, as one of the first services in the UK to offer a single point of access for those experiencing violence and abuse.

During Her Majesty’s visit, she privately met with survivors of domestic abuse, who shared their personal stories and experience of being supported by Refuge.

Dressed in a pinstriped navy coatdress, Queen Camilla accessorised with a symbolic diamond brooch – and fine jewellery experts at Steven Stone have revealed everything there is to know about it.

“Queen Camilla was wearing a Britannia brooch when she visited Refuge’s Gala Centre. Britannia is the national personification of Britain as a helmeted female warrior holding a trident and shield.

Mounted in 18ct white gold, the brooch features a diamond encrusted Britannia figurine, alongside a ruby and sapphire Union Jack flag. It appears to be a replica of the cap badge worn by the Royal Norfolk Regiment, of which she’s Colonel in Chief.

Britannia is a symbol of British strength, which makes the brooch a sentimental choice at this moment in time, with both King Charles and Kate Middleton undergoing medical procedures.

What appears to be the same brooch recently sold online for £4,400 – making it a particularly modest piece on the Queen’s jewellery collection.”
